Jungsu hated gym - specifically any form of straining, physical activity. He was frail, skinny, and definitely not the most athletic student in his class.
Henceforth, he hated it.
Jungsu needed the credit to graduate this year, so there was no option but to take it; he just didn't actively participate. Every gym period, he and Heechul would sit underneath an oak tree on the edge of the soccer field and pick at dandelions while they gossiped.
Today was no exception.
"Bottom line, Cho has a pole up his ass."
Jungsu clicked his tongue and smacked his best friend's shoulder.
"Heechul, you can't just say that because you don't like Calculus. Besides, I think Kyuhyun-ssi is a great teacher. You just need so show some initiative in learning…It also wouldn't hurt for you to stop calling him an "egotistical douche" who "needs to get laid" during class."
Heechul grumbled under his breath.
"I don't understand why I'm friends with you, Teuk. You're such an ass-kisser."
Jungsu smiled and kissed Heechul's cheek.
"I love you too, Chullie~"
Heechul shoved Jungsu's face out of his way. Jungsu just laughed.
Suddenly, the gym teacher, Choi Siwon, blew his whistle and called all of the students to gather around him. Once they were all nearby, he began to talk.
"Some of you may not be aware," Siwon started, "that my part-time contract as your gym teacher officially comes to an end today. I was only supposed to be here until Mrs. Lee returned from maternity leave, but she'd decided to lay off another year to take care of her newborn. Due to my own personal scheduling conflicts, your principal has already chosen a permanent replacement for me. His name is Mr. Kim and I hope you treat him with as much respect as you've shown me for the past few months. Thank you all. I'm truly going to miss you."
Siwon bowed before all of the teenagers and tried to cheer up the occasional bawling fangirl, who refused to accept that she could no longer flirt with such an attractive man during class time.
Heechul mentally cheered. He was tired of the religious hypocrite's daily prayers to "protect everyone from injuries during class". What a load of bull.
Jungsu, on the other hand, was worried at Siwon's sudden departure. What if the new teacher was as mean as a dictator and smelled like Hyukjae? What if he had a giant wart in between his eyebrows and liked to eat puppies for breakfast?
What if… he actually makes me participate in class?
Jungsu shuddered at the mere thought.
Siwon was nice enough to ignore Heechul and Jungsu's blatant rebellion against daily sit-ups and kicking soccer balls, but what if the new teacher wasn't as accepting?
Jungsu gulped in fear.
Only tomorrow would tell.

Jungsu slid his jeans and shirt off at an excruciatingly slow pace.
Heechul cackled and smacked his friend's ass, at which Jungsu jumped like a scared kitten. Heechul leaned in towards Jungsu and whispered huskily in the other's ear.
"Are you trying to give everyone a boner? Stop with the strip-tease and change, idiot."
Jungsu turned around to see half of the other guys in the locker room staring at him with glazed eyes. He felt a heated blush rise to his cheeks. He didn't mean to give anyone the wrong impression; he was just nervous about class today and, therefore, reluctant to change into his gym clothes. He sure as hell didn't want to end up collapsing after running a mile or being assaulted by a vicious dodge ball.
He tugged his gym shorts on and slipped the form-fitting, white t-shirt over his arms. Jungsu closed his locker and turned to Heechul, sighing in defeat.
"I'm ready," he mumbled.
Heechul linked his arm with Jungsu's and the two walked leisurely outside. They took their usual seats underneath the oak tree and started talking, watching the other kids play on the field. However, this time their conversation was cut short. A loud grunt from behind interrupted their chattering. The two turned around and found themselves staring at a large, burly man.
"May I ask what you two are doing?" The deep voice boomed.
Heechul responded frankly, "What does it look like, idiot? We're talking."
Jungsu could swear he saw steam blowing from the broad man's ears.
"I'm your new gym teacher, Kim Youngwoon. I expect that you address me with respect and call me "Mr. Kim". Got it?"
Heechul scoffed and rolled his eyes.
"Well, if we're playing this game, you'll address me with respect and call me "The Almighty Kim Heechul". Got it?"
Youngwoon felt the urge to punch this kid in the face. Who the hell does he think he is, talking to me with such blatant disrespect? Little bitch…
Heechul smirked before continuing, "Anyways, I do believe Jungsu and I were in the middle of a conversation before you came in. Run along and teach your class, okay? We're busy over here."
Youngwoon turned his attention to the boy sitting next to Heechul. The boy's chocolate eyes were large with uncertainty, almost as if he wondered whether he should keep quiet or apologize for his accomplice's behavior. Youngwoon decided that he liked this kid better. He pointed towards the hazel-haired male.
"You," Youngwoon demanded. "What's your name?"
Jungsu was taken aback; nervousness flooded his stomach.
"P-Park Jungsu, sir!"
Youngwoon let his eyes drift over the boy's body before nodding silently to himself and scribbling something down on his clipboard.
"Park Jungsu, your punishment for off-task behavior is a three-mile run. If you take longer than twenty-five minutes, I will assign you an after school detention."
Jungsu felt like crying. He could barely make it through one mile, how was he supposed to run three?
Heechul felt pity for his friend and tried to speak up, but Youngwoon would have none of it.
"Kim Heechul," Youngwoon began, "I assure you that your punishment will be worse. For off-task behavior, foul language, and disrespect, I award you with three laps around the field and thirty push-ups. If you take longer than twenty-five minutes, you will be forced to clean the male locker room every day for the next month. Be warned, I will be checking with the janitors to make sure it gets done. I would suggest that both of you get started on your laps right away…there's only twenty-three minutes left."
Youngwoon smiled and watched the two teenagers sprint away.
After the first lap was completed, Jungsu groaned. It had ended up taking him ten minutes simply to run one mile. He only had fifteen minutes left to run two more. His feet were throbbing and the sun was beating down harshly on his body, making him sweaty and dehydrated. Jungsu's chest heaved up and down as he ran, his legs threatening to give out on him. He watched as Heechul outlapped him again, the latter almost done with his punishment.
There was a major difference between the two friends: Heechul didn't want to exercise, Jungsu physically couldn't.
Youngwoon watched with amusement as Heechul began his push-ups and Jungsu reached his third lap with six minutes left. Heechul could probably finish by then, but Jungsu didn't have a chance if he didn't quicken his pace.
Jungsu bit his lip and pushed as hard as he could. There was no way he was going to get a detention on his spotless academic record! As he rounded the last curve, he could see Youngwoon's figure in the distance with his stopwatch. Heechul was standing next to him, out of breath. He must have just finished the push-ups. Jungsu bolted towards the two figures, ignoring the painful cramps in his stomach and the squeezing compression of his lungs as he tried to suck in more air.
A feeling of elation washed over him as he realized that he was almost at the finish.
Just a few more strides and I'm done!
With determination, Jungsu ran so fast that he whizzed past Youngwoon, nearly collapsing onto the ground afterwards.
Heechul made his way to Jungsu, holding onto his friend to keep him steady. Youngwoon pressed the "stop" button on the timer and turned to face Jungsu.
"Twenty-five minutes and thirty-eight seconds. Nice try, Jungsu. See you after school."
For the second time that day, Jungsu felt like crying.
